AChoired Taste was 10 on Sunday! 11th November 2002 being the first rehearsal. We couldn’t let this go, so a wee drinkie was taken to mark the occasion. Several members brought photos/video of events from the last 10 years.
“Congratulations AChoired Taste !! HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY! Enjoy your celebrations – just sorry I can’t be there. See you in January!” Jacquie Richardson x
We left for our trip to Oxford on Sunday 28th October and returned on Wednesday 31st October.
“Thank you to all those who gave their all on our mini tour to Oxford and Bath. A particular thank you to Hilary for doing the organisation and helping the few days to go smoothly.” Lou
Kerry and Sue Applin invited us to sing at their 25th wedding anniversary party at PaghamVillage Hall on Saturday 29th September 2012. We sang The Rose, Hail Holy Queen and the Beauty and the Beast medley at 9pm.
Our end of year BBQ was held on Monday 16th July from 6pm onwards. “Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make last nights BBQ such a great evening and well done again to our BBQers who did a fantastic job feeding 150 people with hardly any waiting time at all.”
Many of us were part of a massed choir at Gunwharf Keys on 23rd June 2012 to welcome the Lone Twin Boat to Portsmouth. Lone Twin’s Boat Project used the latest yacht building methods to turn wooden objects donated by people from across the South East into a seaworthy archive of stories and memories. 1,200 people donated their wood (pencil or piano – exotic as Zebrawood or as familiar as pine) and told their story; each donation was used along with thousands of others to construct this seafaring record of our lives. With the crew trained and led by Captain Mike Barham, the boat left Chichester Harbour on the epic maiden voyage taking place throughout the South East region. Following the adventures of its maiden voyage, the boat was gifted back to the region as a permanent resource for the public. The Boat Project by Lone Twin was part of the London 2012 Festival, a spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration from 21st June to 9th September 2012, bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK.
We performed once again as part of the church music festival.
“What a great evening at Blendworth tonight! My friend and I were stopped four times on our way out by people telling us how good we were. We so were! Just the right amount of us there, and we sounded excellent tonight, the bass section were fantastic and the overall sound was just brilliant. You could tell everyone was watching Lou and it made such a difference. A job very well done!!” Nina
This charity concert was in aid of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, and held at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Crookhorn.
“Thank you so much for a great concert last night. Audience feedback was very positive and everyone seemed to enjoy their evening. Thanks to Ray for organising the concert and to Ian for being a fabulous compère as always.” Lou
Elena Winch lead a workshop with the choir on Monday 16th April 2012, 6pm-9pm, with nibbles and drinks after the singing bit!
We were given an opportunity to be part of a combined choir for a recording of the BBC’s Songs of Praise at St. Mary’s Church, Fratton. The rehearsal took place on a Wednesday evening in February, with two TV camera recordings on consecutive days in March. The rehearsal and recordings were hard work, but great fun! In all, we appeared three times on TV!!
We will be performing at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cowplain on Saturday 5th May at 7.30pm in aid of the Royal marines Charitable trust Fund
