We were given an opportunity to be part of a combined choir for a recording of the BBC’s Songs of Praise at St. Mary’s Church, Fratton. The rehearsal took place on a Wednesday evening in February, with two TV camera recordings on consecutive days in March. The rehearsal and recordings were hard work, but great fun! In all, we appeared three times on TV!!
We will be performing at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Cowplain on Saturday 5th May at 7.30pm in aid of the Royal marines Charitable trust Fund
We performed a Christmas Celebration at Cowplain Evangelical Church on Sat 10th Dec. The concert was a combination of AChoired Taste, Credo and the Minister of the church giving a short Christmas message.
“The concert at Cowplain was fantastic – well done to everyone involved. A special thank you to Ian for leading us through it all with his charm and natural relationship with the audience.” Lou
“I thought you might like to hear feedback from friends who attended last nights concert at the Evangelical Church. They said they had had never heard a choir sing with so much energy and connection that raised the whole atmosphere. ‘I never lost concentration for one minute. It just flowed’ and ‘It wasn’t a choir singing the same old Christmas stuff- it was a really professional performance, it was all solidly together and we loved it. It was excellent.’ That from someone who is not new to choirs and the theatre. For me it was very enjoyable and Lou and her team are at the centre of all the excellence and all the fun. So have a happy Christmas and see you next year!” David Stone
The RNLI Carol Service was held at Portsmouth Cathedral, with around 100 singers from AChoired Taste. The next day, Lou wrote: “Hi everyone. Thank you for yesterday’s performance – it sounded great, and I didn’t fall off the podium!”
A small group from the choir sang at the annual Rosemary Foundation Lights of Remembrance Service.
“A few of us stayed for refreshments after the event at Langrish House Hotel yesterday and received congratulations and lots of wonderful compliments, which I thought I should pass on to everyone. Nurses and volunteers from the Rosemary Foundation, the hotel owner, friends and various people who we’d never seen before, all said that it provided just the right atmosphere with a lovely selection of songs. Many also hoped that we’d do it again! Robina, the hotel owner, apologised that those of the choir who left early did not get refreshments – there had been a crisis in the hotel just as teas were being prepared and all the staff were needed!” Jane
Some members of the choir donned Victorian attire and sang carols at the Festival of Christmas, held at Portsmouth Dockyard at the end of November.
We are waiting to find out more about this concert at present. It is at 5pm at Langrish House but I know no more at present.
We sang at a concert organised by Matthew Everett, an ex pupil of HJS. He organised a concert to raise money to fund his Borneo Conservation trip. We sang for about 10 minutes in each half.
“Thank you everyone for your fantastic performance last night at the St Wilfred’s church concert. You sang beautifully and I heard many positive comments from audience members. Matthew again asked me to pass on his thanks to you all for giving up your time to support him in his fundraising efforts for his trip to Borneo.” Lou
We were invited to provide a small group from the choir to sing during the signing of the register, plus joining the congregation for the hymn singing.
“Congratulations and thank you to those that gave their time to sing at Catherington Church yesterday. The family were delighted with our singing and everyone was very complimentary. Well done!” Lou
“Thank you to those who came to the Lifeboat Service today. As always you did a fantastic job and they were delighted with our contribution.”
